Please see the youtube video link below. Has anyone else seen this behavior with a dual IFD installation after the 10.1.1.0 software update?
I see this at startup. Soft rebooting from the "data update" page does not correct the problem. Powering down with the on/off button and then powering up again does get rid of the error and then everything functions normally. I have an Aspen PFD, DFC90, MLB100 and AXP322. |

Wow...I thought I was the only one seeing that after 10.1.1. It does not happen all the time. I have found the powering down EITHER of the 540s will correct the issue. Avidyne had thought it was an intermittent flightbyte error on my #2 unit but apparently that may not be the case.

Yep. If you look at your NAV indicators, you will find that one of them will likely be showing fully deflected down and to the left. Whichever IFD connected to the offending NAV indicator will be the offending unit. The error is because the LIO board inside the unit is booting up out of sequence and affecting the RS232 and other I/O communications.
Call tech support and talk with TJ, he will straighten you out. You'll need to send him your log files, but I'm fairly confident you are seeing the symptoms of the LIO issue. |

Interesting. I saw a similar issue with my single IFD install the other day after a data update. When it rebooted after the update was complete, it reported a 429 fault and was not getting the fuel flow data from my engine monitor. A power cycle of the avionics power bus solved the problem. Sounds like the root cause might be the same.

There are a few situations that can cause a "cross sync fault" CAS so its always best to check with Tech Support so they can run through some troubleshooting.
With that said, we have identified an issue with Cross Sync that we believe we have a fix for in 10.1.2. We are currently working to have that available. This issue applies only to dual IFD installations. If you have a single IFD and are receiving "cross sync fault" messages, then you likely have a configuration issue.

A more serious problem has developed today. My #1 IFD540's GPS stopped working. Restarting didn't help. Switching antennas with #2 didn't help either. It's dead.
I'll be talking to the avionics shop Monday but I'm thinking that maybe the GPS was dying a slow death and that may have been causing my recent "CroosSync Fault" issues. Dunno.

Ron, I have been dealing with frequent intermittent GPS problems on startup for some time. The symptoms are zero GPS activity and a 429 input error shown on the screen of 540. It will persist between re-starts of the 540.
Twice now I've seen that powering off my 340 transponder while the 540 boots will fix the issue. Looks like you have the remote 322 so maybe try pulling the circuit breaker? Maybe this will help while you wait for a response from Avidyne support. (I have reported my own problems to the techsupport at avidyne email and have been giving them updates, but have not heard anything back since I uploaded logs three weeks ago.) |

Tech support is on it. They have my logs and are working the problem. I suspect I'll be sending it in for repair though. :-(

There is an updated software release (Release 10.1.2) for cross sync issues.
If you are experiencing cross sync issues, please visit your Avidyne dealer for this new update.

Is this software install a covered expense if done by an Avidyne dealer? There was confusion on 10.1.1 when my dealer said it was not covered but Avidyne said it was.
