departure added to imported route

I know that when building a route a departure procedure can be added to the origin during the initial route entry.  What about when a route is imported from an external source like FlyQ.  At this point the route just becomes another stored route.  But even with a stored route, so you add a departure procedure since the origin was already created. I can't get a prompt to enter a departure in this situation.
