We wasted no time. As soon as it was available today, my shop grabbed the files, and got it done. They are located at my field, so that makes it a lot easier. Got my install today. GPS wouldn't acquire Sats. Installers called Avidyne.
They later gave them the update and everything was fine except for me having to pay to have the units heart started. This was unit dated 1502. I understand the shop wanting their due for their effort, but why should I be stuck with the tab on a new never fired up unit. I suppose after the years of waiting, I should be thankful to have gotten the unit. I believe I will enjoy it. Wanting to be a happy camper. |

Great News! My 540 has had GPS "issues" on almost every flight to date so I chosen not to make any trips that might result in IMC conditions so far. I look forward to installing the update and being confident the unit will not reset at a point in the flight that I would need it the most.

You'd think that your shop could file some sort of warranty claim with Avidyne so you don't get stuck with the bill for a warranty issue.

That may be shop 101, but shop 102 is charge them both.

When does the factory begin installing this update to production units before shipping? Just curious as mine is due to be shipped 3/2. |
