I see some message traffic in various forums about R9 guys wishing there was a way to reduce the frequency of "Flap Overspeed" aural alerting.
We're going to make a two-part tweak to this in the hopes of addressing some of those concerns. 1. We will provide a means for the pilot/user to turn off the flap overspeed aural alert if they so choose in the SYS-Display Setup tab as part of 9.3. If you really don't like ever hearing the alert, then use this on/off selection to deselect it. 2. We will add about a 4 sec time delay in the next release of DFC100 so that the overspeed condition (e.g. > 119KIAS with flaps deployed in a Cirrus) must be true for a minimum of 4 seconds. That is intended to minimize the scenario where you've got flaps deployed right near 119 KIAS in gusty/turbulent conditions and have momentary exceedances of a few knots or a few seconds. As a side note, I do personally find the flap overspeed aural alert helpful in one particular scenario. Due to decaying personal skill sets, I find myself forgetting to raise the flaps during climbout at an ever increasing frequency. I like this crutch.
