IFD550 Screen goes blank during approach

I’ve been flying with the IFD550 for many years now and am very familiar with how it functions. I’ve got to say I totally love it. However yesterday I was doing some practice approaches at my local airport. I was in a hold and readying my self for the approach. I began the approach but forgot to press the exit hold button. So I pressed “direct to” the intermediate waypoint in the approach by selecting the waypoint in the FMS page and hitting goto then pressed enter twice. Suddenly the screen went black. The keys around the outer bezel were lit and we still had coms through the IFD. I power cycled the unit and it came back to life. This has never happened before. Next time I’m up I’ll try to replicate the condition. To see if it’s a repeatable glitch. Is this something that will be recorded in the IFD logs? If so I can send the necessary log to Avidyne for review.
