Breaking Squelch

   On some recent flights I have noticed that the 540 will appear to turn off the squelch and you hear the static over the head sets.  I'm most sure if I changed anything inadvertently.  Looking at the setup pager squelch is on for com 1.  I thought it just might be the frequency I was on but my com 2 radio not an Avidyne was not getting the static.

Any suggestions?
