Can my IFD540 take advantage of the new SouthPAN SBAS system in New Zealand and Australia?

We believe that the IFD540 is already compatible.  However, we have not yet done any direct testing with SouthPAN.

hi guys,
As an Australian pilot I’ve been closely following SouthPAN / SBAS augmentation rollout in Australia.
As with most things here in Australia, progress of fantastic tech like this is incredibly slow. I think the big hold up is dependent on how the government can monetise it… ha only joking… not. That said SBAS testing has been in the pipeline here for quite some time. However as pilots I don’t think we’ll see approaches to LPV minima for awhile yet.
I believe our IFD’s can already receive signals from SouthPAN SV’s.
All we need now is new RNP approach charts to have published LPV minimas.
I really hope I see Australia adopt this upgrade in safety to all RNP approaches in my lifetime.
I’m extremely excited by this prospect but I don’t think we as GA pilots will see this until sometime in 2027 at the earliest. Any earlier? I'd love to be proven wrong.
Can’t wait,
Cheers,
Andy
